Interprofessional Education Opportunities

As part of your learning experience, the Professional Practice portfolio has been developed IPE sessions exclusively for students. The IPE Series provides students with the opportunity to meet and discuss experiences and to learn with, from and about one another. Both the IPE Series and Student Café are open to all students, from all programs and academic institutions while completing a clinical placement at the hospital and are accredited as red electives from the Centre for IPE/University of Toronto.

If you are having a personal crisis, please know that you are not alone and there are many individuals and resources that can help. If your health or safety, or that of someone else, is at risk, please call 911 or seek medical attention immediately.

Please do not hesitate to contact your professional associations (as appropriate) or your Student Affairs or Wellness Centre at your respective academic institution.

 

St. Michael’s Hospital is proud to have a team of individuals who are on site to support all learners navigate challenging educational situations. If you are experiencing issues with your placement, the hospital, faculty/staff or another student, or have experienced any form of discrimination, harassment, and violence, we can help. Our Students Matter  Process offers learners the support and resources to address any issues brought forward.

Student Mistreatment

We are committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and violence for everyone, including students. Our team is here to listen, support, and guide those who have experienced or witnessed such incidents through our Students Matter  Process.

 

Based on the Ontario Human Rights Code and Ontario Occupational Health and Safety ActWorkplace Harassment  is defined as “Engaging in a course of vexatious comment or conduct against a worker in a workplace that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome or workplace sexual harassment.”  Some examples are offensive or intimidating comments or jokes and bullying or aggressive behaviour.

 

If your health and safety or that of someone else’s is at risk, please call 911 or seek medical attention right away.
