DESCRIPTION:Collaborative Learning Student Series – Electives \nThe Collaborative Learning Student Series Electives will take place on various days and times throughout the year.  Many of the activities have limited registration and learners are encouraged to sign up early to secure a spot.  Registration will be open 2 weeks prior to the event. \nProgram: Wellness Debrief ** \nThis is a 2-part activity. \nPart 1: Students must have participated in a Unity Health-led wellness activity prior to participating in the Debrief.  Click here to find out more about the wellness opportunities. \nPart 2: The debrief will link interprofessional collaboration competencies with team wellness and resilience. DESCRIPTION:Collaborative Learning Student Series – Electives \nThe Collaborative Learning Student Series Electives will take place on various days and times throughout the year.  Many of the activities have limited registration and learners are encouraged to sign up early to secure a spot.  Registration will be open 2 weeks prior to the event. \nProgram: Compassion & De-escalation \nDuring this session learners are introduced to the concept of escalation and using a compassionate approach to de-escalate a situation.  Learners will have the opportunity to hear a patient’s perspective\, work in small groups and problem solve different approaches. \nObjectives:  \n\nAcquire an appreciation of patient’s perspectives while providing care.\nReflect on person-centered care as well as empathy for an individual and describe a de-escalation technique used for reducing responsive behaviours.\nDiscuss and recommend strategies that support empathetic interactions with patients and create meaningful team interactions with patients.\n\nRegistration: Click here to register. \nAccreditation: \nThese learning activities are approved by the University of Toronto\, Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare & Education (CACHE) for IPE credit.
